A SAMPLE OF Non-Photography Items I Bring to a Wedding

As a wedding photographer, capturing beautiful moments is my top priority—but I’ve learned over the years that being prepared for the unexpected makes all the difference. That’s why my gear bag includes more than just cameras and lenses. I always bring a small first aid kit (because blisters and paper cuts happen), a Tide stick for last-minute spills, and black & white thread with a needle for emergency button fixes or torn hems. These little items have saved the day more than once, and couples are always surprised (and relieved) when I whip them out at just the right time.

I also carry mints (for fresh “I do” kisses), facial blotters to keep everyone shine-free in portraits, and plenty of safety pins, which are absolute heroes for gown mishaps or quick veil adjustments. These tiny tools might not seem like much, but they help ensure that the day flows smoothly and stress stays low. I believe being a great wedding photographer means being a calm, prepared presence—someone who’s ready for anything, camera in hand and mayb even a Leatherman at the ready.
